NetStumbler is an excellent free tool for performing WLAN site inspections (note that NetStumbler is not useful for hacking or security testing, but that is not the scope of this article). It doesn't give you all the glossy reports, and it takes a little extra work to get the results. However, with a little help from this tutorial and the downloadable Excel Macro tool, this is an excellent free solution.
