Help desk technicians can solve a variety of problems that vary by industry and particular company. Some technicians work for large software companies or support service companies and need to educate corporate customers on how to use company-specific programs such as an electronic health record program used in hospitals or doctors' offices. Sometimes they work with other technicians to solve problems.
Other help desk technicians work in call centers, answering
the simplest questions from non-corporate customers. They can guide customers
through the basic steps to reestablish an internet connection or to
troubleshoot home IT products like Wi-Fi routers.
