A
structured cable system is a complete system of cables and related hardware
that provides a comprehensive communications infrastructure. This
infrastructure can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as providing
telephone services and sending data over computer networks. It should be device
independent.
In
addition, we define a structured cable system in terms of ownership. Structured
cable systems begin when the service provider (SP) ends. This point is a
boundary point (demarc) or network interface device (NID).
For
example, in telephone system installation, the SP provides one or more service
lines (according to the customer's requirement). SPs connect service lines at
boundary points.
